Komparatif. ID, Toronto– Huge news from our local music scene! Indonesia’s very own contemporary ethno-jazz ensemble, Keubitbit, is officially flying to Canada to showcase some pure Nusantara magic at the prestigious Niagara Jazz Festival 2026.

Led by Safrullah (aka Aloel), the band got a direct, independent invite from the organizers. They’re locked in as one of the main headliners for the exclusive World Music on the Beach program, performing back-to-back on July 4 and 5, 2026.

According to Aceh’s ethnic music maestro, Rafly Kande, the crew is flying out on July 3 and heading back home on July 8. And get this—this isn’t just a fluke. This Canada gig marks their 6th international invite in just the last three years! Absolute legends. Rafly mentioned that this is proof the global music market is totally vibing with Keubitbit’s consistent quality.

Bringing Deep Vibes with “Akulah Malaka”

This trip isn’t just about playing tunes and entertaining the crowd; it’s a whole cultural mission. Keubitbit is bringing a deep message about philosophy, geopolitics, and humanity through their main theme: “Akulah Malaka Itu” (I Am Malacca).

The theme reflects on the Strait of Malacca being one of the busiest and most strategic shipping lanes in the world. With poetic lyrics like, “I am Malacca, calmly supporting the world’s vessels… anchor your love right in the pulse of the emerald equator,” they want to remind everyone about the spirituality, openness, and resilience embedded in Acehnese culture. In today’s chaotic and divided world, Keubitbit’s music aims to be a soothing spiritual roadmap.

It Wasn’t All Smooth Sailing (The Budget Struggle)

Honestly, getting to Canada was a whole rollercoaster. Keubitbit almost faced a major roadblock due to complex logistics and a super tight budget for flight expenses.

But luckily, massive teamwork makes the dream work! The turning point happened when Aloel connected with Sayutinur (Head of Global Aceh Diaspora Scandinavian Chapter). This sparked a chain reaction, opening international networks and uniting the whole Global Aceh Diaspora under Mustafa Abubakar. The diaspora community immediately moved to back them up and protect Aceh’s artistic pride on the world stage. They also got a major blessing from Surya Darma, the head of the Aceh Customary Council (MAA).

Things got even better when the Indonesian Ministry of Culture stepped in as the main sponsor. On top of government backing, major corporations like PT Mifa, PT Bel, PT Jamkrindo, Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), Peruri, and MDB also dropped some serious financial support.

To top it all off, the band is blessed with support from senior Indonesian musicians like Kadri Mohamad and Yovie Widianto, plus spiritual guidance from their legendary mentor, Rafly Kande.
